Mags Harries and Lajos Héder discussed past river projects with Renata von Tscharner, the President of the Charles River Conservancy. The discussion aired on Cambridge Community Television on May 14, 2014. Works discussed included the public art projects The Bronx River Golden Ball, River Runes, River, Our Charles River, and Xixi Umbrellas.
In Levels, Mags Harries explores the idea of level and finding level through sculpture, installation, video, and drawing. Water, tide, time and light are all part of these explorations. Her artwork features humble and ordinary objects that she transforms to a grander scale.
Mags and Lajos were recently selected for the Greensboro Downtown Greenway Northwest Corner in Greensboro, NC. This project and the Downtown Greenway are part of a the larger Greensboro Downton Economic Development Strategy.

Mags and Lajos’ public art proposal Light Gate was recently selected for the Centennial Art Project of Manhattan Beach, CA. The piece will be made of glass laminated with prismatic lighting film that will create rich and varied light effects with the sun. Located in the Civic Center Plaza of Manhattan Beach, Light Gate while create a focused view to the ocean.
November 2012 public art sculpture Xixi Umbrellaswas unveiled as part of The Fourth West Lake International Invitational Sculpture Exhibition in the Xixi Wetlands Park of Hangzhou, China. Learn more about this project here.
Passage was recognized by The Valley Forward Association 2012 Environmental Excellence Awards. The project received the prestigious Crescordia Award for Art In Public Places. In addition, the South Mountain Community Library received Crescordia Awards for both Institutional and Civic Buildings & Structures. Valley Forward’s Environmental Excellence Awards program is Arizona’s oldest and largest environmental competition.
Mags and Lajos’ proposal LightPlay was recently selected for the Southstar Lofts public art project on Broad & South Street in Philadelphia, PA. The project will use refracted light and other day/night lighting effects for this new mixed-use building. This is a Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority Percent for Art project.
Working with the South Mountain Community Library, poet Alberto Ríos collected and edited submissions from the community a line, phrase, “tweet”, short memory or observation for the creation of a collective poem about the South Mountain area. To celebrate the one year anniversary of the Library, the poem will be recorded and included on the Acoustic Chairs of Passage. The poem will also be printed on a bookmark and distributed at the anniversary celebration.
Terpsichore for Kansas City will officially open to the public December 2, 2011 from 5-8pm. The reception is open to the public and will take place in Arts District Garage on the bottom floor of central stairwell (300 West 17th Street, Kansas City, MO 64108).
